just got back in the studio from a great shoot in sweetwater, texas- kickin it at the pear tree ranch. when i walked into the studio this dan winters book was waiting for me. i just paged through it and absolutely loved it, i can safely say everything about it rocks! the design, the printing, the images, the feel, his choice of format, even the bloody price was hard to beat. winters is seriously a master, and i love that he makes the world straight. i wonder if he has a bubble level in his pocket?
the other night i told jake the story of eddie aikau. i conveniently skipped over the part that he was never found, and highlighted the rescue of the rest of the crew. i figured a 5 year old doesn’t need to lay awake thinking what might have happened to eddie on his paddle to get help, just that eddie was brave enough to go.
my canon has sat on the shelf for way too long because it’s just not sharp. i have been hefting about the H2 with the P45+ as my point and shoot because of it. now that nikon is sporting some tilt shifts i have been considering switching teams.
here’s the test. can you see it? nikon left canon right. same amount of sharpening….. sorry canon it’s time for an upgrade.
i’ve asked around and all the canon folks say they just boost the sharpening way up when they process. i didn’t feel like that was the best option, and then reading this post from preston, it looks like i’m not alone. you should take a look, he’s so much better then me at telling the story. http://prestonmack.blogspot.com/2009/03/switch-to-nikon.html
